my engine would also stall when I dropped the throttle to low. It was hit and miss, sometimes it would stall, and sometimes it wouldn't, but I couldn't trust that it wouldn't stall. Mine was direct drive, so it was a little harder working with it when going slow. I solved the problem by using the electric trolling motor when going docking or manuvering around things at a marina. The motor started and ran fine at speed, so I never worried about it. The trolling motor was so much more effective that I'm in the process of installing it on my Hunter to use it for docking purposes.
