(Glenn, P-18, S. Oregon) to the hull. In a hole cut through the liner. From Pete's comments, now I figure the powder around the transducer is sawdust from cutting through the liner. I think I have this type of transducer (see website below). With a base/cup mounted to the hull and the transducer in a "liquid".
