replacing. But, also give thought to the tension on it before stepping or lowering it. When I first got my boat all I did was trailer sail. I constantly was looking to shorten setup time. One step I took was to have the shrouds and back stay pretty much set as closely as I could to proper tension before stepping. I noticed the mast lift was harder not only on me but on the shrouds as well. And ofcourse, pinning the forestay was made a big chore following this regiment. I called Precision and was warned by Bart about this very issue, in that, it's great to have correctly tensioned the rigging once the mast is stepped but to take off some when lowering or raising thus, lowering stresses on the rig in total. Also, adding the adjustable backstay helps as well. Y.M.M.V.
