I don't know, but pandemics may be a natural cycle. There's 6.4 Billion of us on this rock, and that adds immensely to the viral opportunity. There's worldwide overnight delivery of any bug with cheap air travel. Something in my gut says some part of the fear of the slime flew virus goes back to the uncertain economic times of today. 30,000 old and young die from flu in the USA every year, or so I've been told, either by the flu itself or complications. I do recall some years ago getting the flu and thinking.....Oh! this is how it feels when you die. It was a bad one, and came on in an instant.
If it ain't a pandemic, something possibly will reset the balance of humans. An asteroid maybe. I've heard that one coming in from the direction of the Sun would give us 14 minutes time of warning. We just wouldn't see it coming....a sucker punch. We know the dinosaurs had a bad day from one of those.
Worse yet is a slow and relentless degradation of life thru climate change and it's effects. Every second we live on the knife edge of life, and death, and don't usually ponder that quandry. I could trip on the dog, sleeping peacefully. and knock my head fatally. A billion ways to go. But right now, it's sweet Spring, so why bother with possibilities. They're endless, and Spring isn't.
