In Response To: Trolling motor thrust - how much? (Pete M P-23)

I have not put it on my Hunter yet, but when I load it into my power model, this is what it shows. Using 40% of a 70 amp battery, I can go 2.5 knots at high speed and have a range of 5.5 miles. When I drop down to 3/5 throttle, I can go 2 knots and range of 7.7 miles. This leaves 60% still in my battery, and assumes only 90% efficiency for other power losses. On my little Precision I got over 3.5 knots For $99 the 30 lb thrust was worth the value. I would rather have gone for a 70 lb thrust motor, but the price is way more. These figures assume no current or wind that can greatly reduce or add speed and mileage.
