change out even faster than the hank on jibs. They furl into a tube, so when you are ready to change sails, you pull the pin on the furling drum and the sail comes off, drop the halyard and stow the tube of sail below, coiled like a lasso. Grab a bigger jib and hook the halyard on and hoist it up. Put the pin back in the furling drum, retension the jib, and release to unfurl the sail. In fact the wire reduces the profile to the wind since its diameter is smaller than the rope luff's. In all my years sailing with the wire furlers, I have never had a jam, but that may be because I like to feed the lines in and out smoothly instead of jamming it in and out. Just something to think about. Also, I cannot see your back holding out leaning two feet off the front end of the boat to hank on your sails. Not to mention the stabilty factor.
