The mast is very easy to raise, even on my own. But I did rig a long extension for launching (details in previous posts). Only one ramp nearby my home is steep enough not to need the extension - and that is at high tide. Truthfully launching or hauling out is not a problem, and I had to wait just once last year for the tide.
As for overnight use - I have only used it for day sails - but there is enough room for gear and food for all five of us. Both my wife and daughter have napped below, in relative comfort. The potty is under the step and is out of the way, and forward of the compression post is large enough for my younger son to nap (or an adult if you cover the cooler with a blanket). I use the forward area for extra clothing, towels, bathing suits, a blanket.
The P185 has a larger inside cabin and could be more friendly to family camping. My primary use of the cabin is for "stuff" not sleeping.
