Chet I put lead in my 18 at one time

I went to a tire place and bought their old lead weights. I think I paid 20 dollars for a large bucket, around 100 lbs. I started trying to melt them down but that got old so I put them in zip lock baggies and slid them forward in the bilge.

For me, it worked very well.

Adding extra ballast has been an issue for hot debate since this site started.
