In Response To: rebedding stanchions (Tim Sharpe P21 "Jenny Lyn")

Clean the old stuff off and then wet sand the area with 800-1000 grit wet sand paper. Then compound the area, at that point it should look new. I place the stanchion back over the area and tape with blue tape- around the stanchion. Take the stanchion off and use silicone, replace stanchion, remove tape. 4200 also works well along with number of other similar caulks, don't use 5200.
