My electrical plug never worked either..

I fixed it once, then forgot to disconnect and ripped the wires out of the mast. I rewired it with a trailer connector type plug, and plugged it directly into a 12 V plug in the cabin. I never really motored much at night where I wound need a steaming light anyway. That solved that problem.
