A few weeks ago we had a big wind storm that knocked down some trees in the yard. A mature pine tree about 2-3' in diameter landed across the tongue of my trailer. It knocked the bow stop/winch assembly right off and bent it all up. The trailer was parked on soft ground, and the jack wheel was driven into the ground like a stake and bent all up. The entire tongue was driven into the ground so the top surface of the tongue was level with the ground. It also bent the bowstop itself, the ladder and the tongue extension. Because so many people had trees down at the same time it took a while to get a tree service to get rid of the tree. Last weekend I got the trailer jacked up so I could get a closer look. Because of the way the tongue is bent I can't hook the trailer up to tow it to the repair shop. What I'm going to do is extend the tongue extension, cut off the bent part and install the coupler on the straight part that's left. I've got a welding shop lined up to do the repairs, but I have to get it over there. If I hired a towing service they'd tear up the lawn trying to get the trailer across it.
