Very funny. About 250 hp... but clearly I extrapolated.

Engines typically deliver about 25 pounds of thrust per hp. It depends on the prop and a few other factors. I used a gear-down sail drive for which this is about right; with 2 engine I could get 500 pounds, and with a running start, I could generate over 100 pounds, depending on the drogue. It was fun. Some of the tests were run with my Stiletto, years ago, and it REALLY stopped fast when you dropped a chute off the back.

Clearly, the higher forces require a wave strike. I didn't want to test that.

The Coast Guard report is very interesting. I recommend it.
