YES you can dump the boat, YES it will turn turtle fast, YES It turns even faster when you hang on to it. IF YOU INTEND TO SAIL AN UNBALLASTED DINGHY...LEARN TO RIGHT IT FIRST!! Does it sound like I'm torqued.. You're right. It slays me when its always someone else fault..Step up to the plate buddy and repeat after me..I will not blame the boat for my inability to understand the boat I am sailing. Say...It's my fault for not practicing capsize drills BEFORE taking my dad out sailing!!! 1st, alway lash your centerboard down to prevent it from collapsing into the trunk. 2nd flip over the side and land on the board to prevent the turtle.. If you do it right, the mast will bounce off the water and come right up. If you can't DO NOT hold onto the boat, swim clear, and retrieve any valuables, and the main sheet. swim around to the bottom and climb up onto the bottom stand on the edge and pull the centeboard, using the mainsheet for leverage if needed. As the boat comes up, you climb in, regain control, and sail off. Oh you may want to go back and pick up your wife You can drain any remaining water later. Bottom Line: If you sail an unballasted dinghy (not self righting) then EXPECT to go swimming. Buy a sunfish and learn how to dump it until your good at it!!!
