I forgot to include a section from the article that suggested asking racing sailors about buying sails in good condition that are 1-2 years old. Each sail loses some of its effectiveness with each use. Racing sailors want the best they can get so you can sometimes get a 1 or 2 year old sail that still has a number of years of effective cruising life left in it for half the price of a new basic entry sail. That can be a Win-Win situation. It can give the racing sailor some of the money to buy new sails while it also gives the buyers a sail with much more life in it than they'd get with a "renewed" sail.
Just remember, that 6.7 sails fit only 6.7s. 6.9 & 22 sails fit only each other. Possibly a 6.7 100% class could fit a 6.9/22 but all other sizes would be dicey.
