George, I have some of these closed style turn buckle bodies on my boat. The stop nuts mentionesd above were added by someone, they're not the original configuration. The nuts (one right hand thread and one left hand thread) are mounted on the wire stud and the lower turn buckle stud. The nuts are tightened against the turn buckle body locking it in place. This works much better than the spring wires that are the original configuration. I think the nuts are 5/16 x 28 (diameter and thread/inch).
