The widened slot in the mast for the slugs on my mast have ss plates on each side which are bent inwards at the groove. I guess they are to close the slot so the slugs don't fall out when flaking the main. My problem is if the slugs slide down below these plates, they get hung up when I raise the main. I put a stop in the groove above the plates so they can't get below them, but the main is forced to stay way above the mast when flaked.Does anyone have a better way?
