Law,It seems like this is an oversight in the original design to me. If the wide slot in the mast was right above the boom, the stopper would work just fine and the plates wouldn't be needed. I'd remove the plates, but they keep the slugs from falling out. Maybe I'll try bending as you suggest or try mounting them on the inside of the mast.Thanks, Ken.
