Relative intelligence of sailors and power boaters

We sail on a lake (Lake Monroe, Bloomington, IN) that is shared by power boaters - including PWC users - and sailors. Our first season on this lake stimulates the following question: Is there a difference in intelligence and/or education between the two groups? We wonder if some academic has analyzed this. We have a hypothesis and much anecdotal support for it, but await hard evidence. Be careful out there! Steve
