I'm working on the Kansas contingent -- a little bit hampered by having all the names, e-mail addresses, and phone #s wiped out by the virus.
Had a good talk with John McElroy in Topeka. He cannot make it because of his new job as director of a state agency. Next year, he hopes, he'll have more flexibility.
John is going to send me the e-mail addies and phone #s for the Eatons who live in the Missouri area and race a 6.7 on Lake Perry, KS.
I did talk with Erik Rieger who has a 6.7 in McPherson, KS. Erik & his wife have 3 young boys (about 12 to 7?) and a problem for them in coming is that KS schools start in a week or so. A fast trip east to KY Lake with 3 kids carbound plus a fast trip back to avoid missing much school would necessitate penning the kids up for longer than is comfortable for either kids or parents.
Erik and and I are discussing the possibility of just the two of us making the trip. My trailer is much newer than his so we might switch our boats and trailers for the trip. That's just in the winds. Nowhere near for certain.
John will send me ways of contacting the Eatons. When I get that, I'll talk with them and see what's possible. They also have young children so school problems may be similar.
(I'm becoming aware that ALTHOUGH our boats are "trailerable," NOT every present owner has a trailer which they can comfortably hitch up to their cars/trucks/SUVs and drive 1k-3k miles.
(Some people may lack an adequate towing vehicle. Mine is a Chevvy Astro which has a 5k lb. maximum. I strongly prefer to keep the towed load at about 2/3 to 3/4 of the maximum rating. And less for difficult conditions like mountains.)
I'm afraid a problem in attendance (at any location) will also be who has adequate vehicles plus ALSO adequate trailers.
One of the really GREAT advantages of our boats is to be able to take them anywhere.

MY trailer -- which meets the test of being able to go anywhere -- is a tandem axle from "Aluminum Slide-On" http://www.slideon.com/ They serve the eastern 2/3rds of the US. If I had to do it again, I'd get a single axle trailer, BUT I sure wouldn't change manufacturers. A trailer from them would start at about $2500 and last forever.
