is the bolt supported on both sides somehow,or is it just bolting the side of the block to the side of the tang?

I wouldn't worry about the 1/4" bolt breaking but if the load isn't centered on both the the tang and block, I wouldn't like that. from what the 6.7 keel looks like, I would expect to have a shackle from the end of the fiddle to the tang, and if that doesn't work exactly because of how your block is made, use 2 shackles - you can get one with a 90 degree twist to align properly if that is necessary - see link... (no endorsement of that site, by the way, it was just what came up on a quick google search...)
