I just joined the S2 association and paid dues, and wanted to thank all of you who have been posting - seriously, I have found the information available through this class to be very informative, and hope I may be able to contribute the same. The dues was a bargain compared to what is available here...

I bought S2 6.7 Hull #64 this past April, and have recently finished a major refit which included: -removing all deck hardware -widening existing holes and epoxying everything on deck and transom -re-arranging some hardware (re-placing cam's with clutches, deck organizers, traveller, etc) -installing new Lewmar Hatch -new mast base plate from Ballinger Spars -repainting deck and toerails -recaulking all deck and transom fittings. -Many other misc. jobs

Fortunately, there was very little wetness or rot, and feel the boat is sound for a long time to come. I have spent several weeks sailing her since the work has been done (in both sound and ocean), and have found her extremly stable, resiliant, and controllable in winds as high as 30 knots! We did our research before buying, and decided the S-2 6.7 was the boat for us before we even found one. We have not been disappointed.

Regarding the work, there are things I would do differently now (only to improve the process), and would be happy to go into more detail if anyone is interested. But the primary purpose of this note is to say hello, and thank all those whose comments have helped me through this undertaking. It has been extremely rewarding, and will be our primary source of fun over the next several years as my wife finishes school and we pursue greater paths!

Cheers,

John Kenan, S2 6.7 Hull #64, My Michelle
