I just received from Sailnet's store a 12V circuit breaker panel that seems appropriate for the electrical circuits on boats our size.

The 6 circuit model sells for about $42-44 (depending on whether you're a "SailPerks" member or not -- I think maybe $20 to become a lifetime member).

John Cunningham recently mentioned how frustrating his Sea Dog fused panel can be because the fuses keep popping out and rolling around the sole. I'm hoping this breaker panel is more comfortable to live with -- everything is screwed in so spontaneous migrations don't seem likely.

In case anyone wants to look it up go to http://www.sailnet.com and the item number is SEA422800-1

Product Features (from online catalog):

Six illuminating switches

Supplied with 2- 3 amp, 2- 6 amp, 1- 8 amp and 1- 10 amp

thermal AC/DC circuit breakers

Panel Rating: 12V, 40 amps total

Individual circuit: 10 amps maximum

Length: 6 1/2", Cutout Length: 5 1/2"

Width: 4 1/2", Cutout Width: 3 1/2"

Extra circuit labels are included

I was delighted to find this because the Blue Sea panels in West Marine were in the $100s and supplied with breakers far heavier than normally appropriate on a boat our size (10A, 15A, 20A, etc.).
