Hello Linda For now to get you back on the water quickly I would measure the thickness of you rudder and go to a Menard's and look at there higher quality plywoods. They have smaller pieces (less than 4X8') in thicker widths with many ply's (the more the stronger) with higher quality veneers. It's used for furniture or cabinet making. Even if you need to glue 2 together for the proper thickness. Cut it out to th shape of the old one and drill it as necessary to mount it. If you have a belt sander or grinder round the edges prime and paint it and sail. It's not the veneers you need but the multi ply for strength. It may not be beautiful but it beats a boat with a broken rudder. Then you can decide what to do latter for a replacement. The Ida rudder would be the nicest way to go. better shape, better balance, and nice looking tiller compared to the stock setup's maybe next year for me but???
I'm up for a group sail for next year somewhere on the Great Lakes or in the Midwest. I vote for Short distances between harbors (1/2 day or so), a marina over night(s) with a nice restaurant with allot of local atmosphere and some great shorline. Where do you sail? I just got my 2023 2 weeks ago I sail mostly on lake Superior except for deliveries. I've been sailing for 35 years or so. Bob
