I think he said only against the leaward side

I understood him to say that both top and bottom would be against the leeward side. I have tried to figure how that could happen. Gravity pulls the board to the downhill (leeward) side, leeway forces torque the board, bushing bottom to windward, top pivots on pin to leeward?

Any marks on you trunk could be caused when the boat rocks while at anchor.

My plan is to glass in the nut such that I can drop the board (details in another post).
