there's nothing different about the way the rudder is shaped. I think that photo has some wierd shadows that make it a little harder to see. I had a hairline crack down one of the edges so I needed to have it repaired. In addition to strengthening it, I also had it extended by a friend by about six inches. Here are a few photos of the work before it got new gelcoat.
This one shows the rudder as I got it back from the repair guy. It shows where it was repaired at the top, and the extension.
Just the Extension.
After I had that work done, I added a leading edge of glass to help hold the thing together.
And here's the rudder and other parts laid out for assembly after gelcoat.
