Yes, that is the basic plan. Here's the details that need to be worked out:
Schock made the aft bunk several inches lower than the middle bunk. This means there has to be a way to make some of the boards higher than the aft cushion in order to be level with the boards connecting to the middle cushion.
Also, to avoid using really heavy thick boards, there needs to be a simple support under them in the center.
Also, the step is in the way.
Also, putting the boards under the cushions would make it much more difficult to access the storage underneath. Also, the boards need to be held in place, lest they slip sideways and collapse in the middle of the night. Also, the cushions on the boards need to be level with the seat cushions.
