Pictures of our damaged mast

As you can see, we do not have the same mast raising system that is factory made. Our gin pole connects at a higher location than the factory gin pole (see the two holes on either side of the mast) and is a much more sustantial heavier pole. I think you can see now how when we failed to attach the jib halyard to the end of the gin pole we pressed the part of the pole closest to the mast into the mast as it was lowering. I believe if we had attached the end of the gin pole to the jib halyard or the topping lift the gin pole would have been held straight out and we would not have been able to press it into the aluminum mast as it lowered and cause so much damage. I will follow with a picture of the gin pole. Thanks for any input on how we should repair the mast.
