What you need are sections of mast, about 1 foot long. Blake has these since he demasted a year or two ago. You will need a section on either side and JB weld. pop rivets of stainless about 1/2" apart in a X patteren, avalible though west marine.
Get acetone and a grity sand paper and rough up the area and the iside of the half sections. Take the two half sections and center them over the damaged area. Mark this spot on the mast, then take the marker, make a dotted X with half inch dots. drill the holes one size bit larger then the rivet head in the half sections.
Now mix the JB weld and apply to the marked off damaged area you might want to put masking tape on either side to catch the JB weld spill over.
Okay apply those section and clamp, the drill though one or two of the holes on oppsit side of the patch and pop your rivets! After is setup a hour drill the last of the rivets hole and pop some more rivets.
Your mast should be stronger then it was before. If the half sections do not fit smoothly over the spot beat it in a little more, this is why we pay people to do this kring.
Please do not lift your mast until you have finished the repairs. By the way folks this was how I was going to plug and or strengthen my thru hole for my spreader.
I am going to be boatless for awhile I am lending my boat, to one of my good friends and his family for a indefinate period. At least until I get more settled, Doug has a complete machine shop and tools as well as area to work on it.
I will really miss my boat, but I have to face facts, it will just sit in storage for a year tell I can get to it.
Best regards, be helpful to Doug if he pops in for a question, also I am not selling Traveler just loaning it to a good foster home. I' ll be back in the words of the governator. I will also pop inonce and while.
Best regards,
Charles
