I don't think you could use that much reefing without your boom slapping you in the face, unless you start tucking canvas right off the get-go.
I stopped by the shop today during lunch. Checked out some mini-cams, etc, thinking about internal vs external.
Frankly, I don't see why you would need to purchase ALL the harken hardware shown in that picture/illustration you mentioned. While I do not know for sure, a 2:1 advantage certainly seems like it would do the trick. Besides, I figure if I'm in 30+ knots... really, I seriously doubt that I'd be all that concerned about the shape of the foot.
Also, you're going to have the boom in the cockpit to be able to make any adjustments, anyway, unless you want to run some serious lengths of line. Not only good traction for the pull, worse case scenario, simply luff for a (literal) second.
Or am I missing something? Either way, seems like two (2) simple blocks would do it, with the micro-cam, and at half the face value (or less) than what the Harken picture hardware includes??
