Hello, Mark, I installed a main traveler on my 2023C this summer. It sometimes got treacherous out there in some wild winds when the main sheet would tangle with the tiller and take over steering the boat! That was scarey! I bought a windward sheeting traveler and track from a friend who replaced it on his S 2.8. It fits exactly. I installed it just in front of the bench storage doors so that the bolts go through the bench and into the storage area and not the interior of the boat. (I figured that if my bolt holes ever leak it would be better to leak into the storage area. It was also easier to install solo. I'm thinking that when I take her on a long trip I might move the mainsheet back to the stern just for room.
I have only sailed her a couple of times since installation so I can't say for sure...but I finished an 11 mile Hare & Hound race within 5 minutes of Bullet...a boat that most always takes bullets on the race courses! Was it a fluke? Probably! I was amazed, confused, shocked...How'd it happen??? I'm usually a back of the pack-er. (I'm so curious to find out..could the traveler make THAT much difference?) I was concerned about the comfort and DIS-comfort I might create with installation. The shin-knocker is not a good thought. I do find it much easier to step over than I thought it would ever be, even with such little experience thus far. Due to recent storm damage I haven't been out lately but will soon. (Not soon enough.) I'm thinking of changing my name to Calamity Jane!!! I can let you know after I get her out a few more times. Good luck with your installation! Linda
