Lately I've not sailed much although I can tell you I've had some wild times in 30+ winds! It's really kind of hard to sail in the high winds since the boat is so friendly and wants to round up whenever it lists a bunch.
Depending on the sails configuration, water conditions, wind, etc., it may round up at 45 degree or so. When you attempt to list more it really gets hard to hold a streight line! (first the rudder tube gurgles alot, then the rudder starts to come out of the water and you can't help but round up!
All that depends on your origional speed though. Should you be near zero speed and get caught with 30+ knots on the side... just hold on and wait for the spreaders to touch the water and bounce back upright. This also happens if you are going in reverse speed! (Don't ask how I know!
