Another issue with this bolt arrangement is the danger of collapsing the mast. As that bolt bends, it pulls the walls of the mast section together, which weakens it a LOT! Before I went to a hound, I had installed a compression sleeve around that bolt, but since the sleeve was in two pieces to accommodate the bar, it didn't help much! A few bolts later, I gave up. I had difficulty finding the right size hound at a reasonable price from a commercial source, so I made one myself. You can fabricate a "hound" yourself with two pieces of SS strap, a vice, a hacksaw, a file, a drill press, and some patience. I think that, ultimately, this is a required upgrade.
