Not sure I like rivets for high-load applications so, No rivets, no way!
Now that I am thinking about it, one of the reasons I fabricated my own "hound" was so that I could use the through-bolt (and compression sleeve) already going through the mast for the old attachment. Attached this way, it is very strong and pivots (which a riveted hound cannot do!).
I think I described it before, maybe even posted some pics.... It is a very simple design made out of two pieces of stainless strap (1x1/8", I think), bent to fit using a vice, and drilled using a drill press (the hard part!), and then round off the corners with a grinder
