Generally speaking the jib sheet lead angle off the clew should be 45 degrees for a starting point. So you don't need 8' of track for one sail. You would move it a few inches back for more power in bigger seas and a few inches forward to be faster and point higher in flat water. That is if you like to fidget with things. I'm trying to get to the cleat it and forget it stage. I keep saying racing is different than cruising but I haven't gotten through to me yet. The extra track comes into use for smaller sails, or if you use roller reefing, to keep the sheet angle correct as the clew moves farther forward. That you do need. Generally a smaller sail will sheet closer to the centerline due to less back winding from no overlap. I would bet with a 150 you'll be shorting sail at 10 knots. Also your block on the genny track should be bigger than the little blocks on the smaller jibs for less friction under load. New still folded, that will be nice and it didn't cost $1000.
