"Generally speaking the jib sheet lead angle off the clew should be 45 degrees for a starting point", is is not really correct. A starting point would be the bisect of the angle the leech and the foot make. If you hold the clew then fold the sail so the foot and the leech line up then put a 2 foot long piece of tape temporally from the clew towards the main body of the sail on the crease, tie on a jib sheet then hoist the sail, then the sheet should lead to the deck directly inline with the tape. That's a starting point. If your going to use the furler for reefing the jib, roll it up to the point's you'll be reffing to and mark the deck again. If it's a 150% you could mark it at about 120% and 80%. When you mark the block locations on the deck you could also put a 10" long strip of 2" wide colored sail tape on the sail from the foot up the sail at the furler. That way you reef to that point every time and the sheet angle will always be correct. So you can see that the 8' layout for the track would work out to be right even though you'll only be using a few spots on it. Bob Frak
