Well I did it - Holes in the boat now I have to fix it!

Report: outside forum guidelines

I finally took the saw to the ballast tank. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for me the tank looked very good though now that I have the holes I might as well fix the tank.

This is much more work than I had anticipated so I am looking to modify my process and save some time, money, and labor.

My original plan -

Epoxy coat tank

Add 2cnd coat epoxy with silica

Add layer of fiberglass and epoxy

Lastly coat with epoxy with water barrier (West System 402)

Is this all necessary? Do you think it would be enough just to coat with epoxy mixed with the water barrier only?

What have others done?

Thanks for any and all input.

Todd

Oh almost no sanding. Only mentioned sanding to explain why it looked worse. -- Todd-2023C-SFBay -- 3/15/08 4:31p.m.
