Ballast Valve Assembly

Report: outside forum guidelines

Several owners have installed new ballast tank inlet valve assemblies. I cannot remember the brand. I believe Paul and George have done this.

My question: Do these valves provide a better seal at the inlet hole? A couple of years ago, I started pumping out my ballast tank with a small electric pump and garden hose. (I kept my boat in a slip). However after a few days the water would gradually leak back in. I still have the stock valve.

Even though I did the tank fix, I'd still like to experiment with pumpout. I dont think the "fix" is a 100% solution, IMHO.

Not a problem. Shut air valve creates a vacuum, preventing major loss. -- Gary, Santana 2023A, Milwaukee -- 3/17/08 2:20p.m.
