I'm thinking about putting in a through hull with a seacock on it in low in the forward bulkhead of the ballast tank when I repair it this spring. To it I would attach a pump that would screw onto seacock. The pump and all the connections would be outside of the tank. The main reason would be to lighten the boat at the ramp by pumping out the tank prior to pulling it. That would allow use of poorer ramp sites. Secondary would be to help re float the boat if you got stuck in really skinny water. My indecision comes from do I need it? No. Does it work without it? Yes. Could it become a problem? Yes. Would I cut into a good tank to install one? No. You could modify the tank vent by enlarging the hole in it and temporarily sticking a pump on a stand pipe in the hole. You could temporarily put the discharge hose into the cockpit or the sink if it drained fast enough. Bob Frak
