Does anyone have photos of their 2023C repair related to stopping the leak where the centerboard line enters the cabin floor in order to lift the centerboard. I am referring to the leak possibly caused by a worn fitting which results in the air chamber being filled with water.
I am trying to understand the step post that the centerboard line runs through. Does anyone know if the post can be removed? If so, what does it look like where the line runs down into the floor and centerboard hub? I am wondering whether I can remove the metal post and squish penetrating epoxy or sealant into the area to keep water from entering the air chamber.
However, I am not sure whether the leak is caused only by the centerboard line thing, if at all. I filled the ballast tank on dry land and noticed that it leaked into the air chamber without being in the lake. The leak was a very slight trickle which could be seen from the inside of the air chamber. The water was trickling from the starboard corner of the bulkhead - the floor meets the bulkhead at the hull. Althought I have a 1996 2023C, it would appear that Schock still used the rediculous sealing compound method of joining the floor to the hull. Apparently, I am going to have to open the floor to seal the seams.
Also, Seth, do you have your photos of your tank repairs posted in one area on a website - such as what Tom did. I think George's site would be a great place to share them. I am wondering if cutting one big opening like yours is better than severa smaller ones like what Tom did.
Also, Seth do you have a photo of where your bilge pump hose connects into the storage areas? I saw the picture of the bilge pump sitting next to the housing, but would like to see what kind of connections you used where the wires and hose enter the cabin. Also, it occurred to me that the T connection you used to hook up the hose to the sink hose would allow dirty water from the sink to enter into the bilge pump and air chamber. Did you connect it in a way that would prevent this? Do you have photos?
