Posted By: Doug King, Santana 23 & Sundowner 36 Date: 3/27/08 11:55a.m. Report: outside forum guidelines In Response To: 1995 2023R for sale in Wisconsin (link) (Tom, 2023A, Coupeville WA) what if somebody bought an "R" model, took out the water ballast & centerboard... put in a daggerboard like the old Santana 23, which would make it a bit faster... put on a ballast bulb like the Tripp 26 or Melges 24 has, which would regain all the stability from the water ballast and then some.... added a square-top mainsail... or better yet, a taller rig like the old S23 only with a square-top & full battens.... a carbon fiber mast, of course... yeah, that's the ticket!
