There is no need to seal or cut funnel to fit around the mast if you use a velcro strap and pull it tight. A heavy duty plastic funnel will simply flex to fit the mast curve. The only cut I made was to cut the spout off flush with the boom thingy that sticks out. However, I did cut slots in the funnel for the velcro strap to fit through.
