Your last sentence has me worried. Are you sure he used uncatalyzed epoxy? Maybe he used thinned or unthickened epoxy. If you use straight resin to saturate the wood then add a catalyzed mix over the top your ratio's will end up way off and the mixture will never fully cure. The reason you'd put epoxy over the glass of the hull would be to add a barrier coat to keep down the chances of blisters occurring since there is no jell coat over the glass. If you use the West System you'll add a silver powder to your final top coats to help water from penetrating into the epoxy and then the glass. Not really necessary but? Just don't use the product known as VC Tar. It's a barrier cote but it flakes and chips eventually as is a mess to get off for future repairs (heaven forbid). Bob
