no glass on the bottom

In Response To: Seth, found an old ZIP file from a couple years back. (Gary, Santana 2023, Milwaukee)

I put grey barrier coat on the hull bottom because the previous owner thought water from the ballast tank was the cause of some small blister. Now I think it wasn't needed there (anyone else have blisters?). A boatyard said they were just gelcoat blisters and they certainly weren't deep like some I have seen on other boats.

I glassed the bulkheads, that is definitely needed. I also glassed the seam between the sole and the hull, where Rudy used 5200.

Picture is of forward port quarter of ballast tank before closing the tank.

The guys from West said that an extra coat of epoxy would do as much good as adding the barrier coat additive. I used several coats and overlapping layers of glass on the bulkhead.

The tank will be damp, anyway, due to residual water in the tank. -- Gary, Santana 2023A, Milwaukee -- 4/10/08 1:00p.m.
