I was thinking today about a replacement material that would be permanent, available, easy to work with and last but not least cheep, like me. My thought's lead to PVC pipe. Either 2, 4" diameter pieces stood on end next to each other with end caps sanded flat to help distribute the load and set in a bed of thickened epoxy. Or, many 2" pipes stood on end bonded together, sort of like you stood them 10 or so of them up in a coffee can (just to help image it). They could be bonded together and clamped before being set into a bed of thickened epoxy. Just a thought. Bob
