In Response To: sail loft recommendation? (Seth Dabney, 2023-C, Oxford, MS)

The exact thing happened to me last fall. Gusty 20+ knots with a reef rolled in and ripppp. I posted a note on this site and recommended getting some sticky back sail cloth from a sail maker and putting on a reinforcing patch on the leach so it would wrap once around the boom about a foot up the leach and about a foot to a foot and a half into the body at your reef point. I bought a main and 135 jib from Elliot Patterson on a recommendation from this site. They had a main listed on their web site at a big discount. I called and the office put me through to their sailmaker who had experience with the 2023. The main was ordered by a person who had a tall rig but thought it was a standard. It was fall/early winter but it only took two or three weeks. I haven't had them out of the box yet so I can't tell you any more than it looks good from the small corner I pulled out of the box. I did have them put in one row of reef points on the main. Bob Frak
