I am well pleased with this shot. I expected that 1" strip of wood to be fairly shot... seeing as how they all have been, so far. No clue on earth what that things function in life was! To support the undersole deck, stacked possibly, prior to mounting? And, hey, what nimrod decided to not resin it? Oh, well, a rather useless piece of wood, apparently. Not sure if I'd even bother to replace... but probably would simply because it's there. Distributing deck (sole) support is all I could guess?? To me, the undersole looks lovely. A little 'marbling', perhaps, but solid, solid. The aft bulkhead gave me a seconds pause, until I realized it's in obvious good shape (never a single drop of a leak), and that the dark 'shadows' are simply missing pieces of resin (apparently). Glad I figured this out before seeing the port side, aft, as one shadow, you'd swear, is missing an entire, say, 4" piece of wood.
