Dripping condensate trapped within the tank, I guess. Wet vac'd then sponged out that part the vac wouldn't get. Doubt it'll help these next couple of days, but figured I might as well, every bit helps, until I open her fully up. Residual water, much as you suspect on yours (PO), I think PO, certainly I, myself, hoist it at the bow when stored for better cockpit scupper drainage. Hence, water left in back there. As mentioned in a previous post, I (appear to be) the sole exception (pun intended) who believes there's no way the tank wood could possibly dry out over the winter months. Anyway, if it's not condensate drip, not sure what it could be. Hardened chemical from years past? I've got what appears to be less than an inch, that is wood into the joint. Could be off. What I've seen was others being 4-6 inches off.
As for the cut edge you speak of... nothing else would readily come to my mind to explain it. Port is same way, darker outboard, honey glazing inboard, except where the resin chipped off.
As is, once opened, I expect to seal a de-humidifier in there for quite a number of days. When complete, I suspect I'll leave the deckplate in. Future inspections, not to mention ensuring residual water wet-vac'd out each fall.
Anyone know a source for hard plastic blocks? 2" x 4" in size, larger, 1/2" sheets, etc? If I replace anything, I'd just as soon with plastic, which would outlive me.
At this early point, I see nothing of major concern. Heck, since she's still wet, maybe this weekend I shou... nah, she'd be in 'till fall, then.
