What is that aged, yellow stuff, inside tank, @ rub rail?

Both sides, fore to aft bulkhead, where sole meets the top edge of the hull? The consistency is like a spray foam. I was using a carbon scraper and hammer, playing 'tap-tap-tap' trying to remove a lot of the excess so as to have a clean attack angle for the future fillet along that seam. Also, the only OEM 'glue' along the CB trunk was 5200, and that was only used at the very fore end (visible in photo above, white). From that point aft, appears that the sole was maybe 3/16" ABOVE the trunk, perhaps a hair higher in some area. Swelling/expansion? Anyway, I surmise that this is the reason why the under-sole was glassed to the trunk. Assumption on my part is that the PO didn't care for that 'movement' underfoot and, since he had cut her open, anyway...

Whatever that stuff is, it retains and is slowly weeping moisture. -- Gary, Santana 2023A, Milwaukee -- 4/22/08 7:03a.m.
