For sure I'm going to put a "vent" hose and through hull in and get rid of the hole and plug vent. That way I can open the fill and not worry about timing the fill or overflowing the tank. It will just be a matter filling it till the water comes out the hose and through hull vent. I would like to put a fill in like yours but I'm thinking about putting the pump off of the same fitting. Also a valve to switch to a strainer in the forward compartment. That way you could fill the tank and shut the valve. Open the valve to the pump to pump the tank out if you want or if you hole the hull you could have the fill valve and tank valve closed, open the strainer valve and run the pump to keep the compartment dry. When you pull the boat normally you could open the tank valve and the fill valve and drain the tank with gravity. If I put a hose in the ballast tank to the lowest spot up to the bulkhead fill through hull I think it would siphon the tank down the final two or three inches. I still might put a small drain plug in the bottom of the ballast tank to pull for winter storage. OK everybody tell me what's right , wrong and what wont work. Thanks Bob Frak S/Y Alegira
