In Response To: Question... (Tom Cannon)

I was planning on putting the bilge strainer in the battery compartment under the forward "V" berth on the C model. My thinking was if I was holed in the forward flotation tank the flooding would be contained to the tank, survivable. If the hull was breached after the forward tank or if sea water came in through the companionway it would flood the battery/storage area. That would need to be pumped out. If the ballast tank was holed, so what, it's full of water anyway. If the aft tank was holed then you could pump out the ballast tank for a make shit flotation tank. So why worry? I've never punched a hole , or even hit anything but... All the boats I've been on , except a dingy have had bilge pumps. It sort of worries me that there is nothing on a 2023. Bob
